IMPORTANT NOTICE – YOUR RIGHTS UNDER THE AUSTRALIAN CONSUMER LAW
Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
The rights described in this Warranty are in addition to the rights and remedies you have as a consumer under the Australian Consumer Law. This Warranty does not purport to limit liability or alter your rights as a consumer that cannot be excluded under applicable Commonwealth, State and Territory legislation, including the Australian Consumer Law.
WHAT IS COVERED BY THIS WARRANTY
This Warranty applies to vehicles first registered on or after 1 August 2024. MG Motor warrants that, subject to the terms of this Warranty and exclusions further below, any new MG Motor vehicle supplied by MG Motor, or an MG Motor dealer (excluding Fleet vehicles) will be free from manufacturing defects during normal use for the following periods.

1. Commercial use
Commercial use means that the vehicle has at any time been used or is currently used for a commercial purpose, and such uses include without limitation: taxi, or hire, or rideshare vehicle, rental vehicle, courier vehicle, driving school vehicle, security vehicle, tour or bus operator and emergency services vehicle.
2. Anti-perforation and paint
The anti-perforation and paint warranties exclude 'surface corrosion' or 'blistering, scab, and fading', respectively, 'that may result from insufficient or improper maintenance or care, or the result of impact by foreign objects'. These exclusions may be strengthened by referring to environmental conditions (including pollution) and any other factors outside of MG Motor's control, as set out below:
Anti-perforation is identified as rust through corrosion of the painted metal body panels from the inside or underside of the panels occurring as a result of faulty workmanship or faulty materials used during the original manufacturing process of the vehicle. This excludes surface corrosion or other damage that may result from insufficient or improper maintenance, storage, or care, environmental conditions (including pollution), or the result of impact by foreign objects, or any other factors outside MG Motor's control, as set out further below.
Paint is identified as defects in the original paintwork application and durability. This excludes scaling, blistering, scab, and fading, or other damage that may result from insufficient or improper maintenance, storage, or care, environmental conditions (including pollution), or the result of impact by foreign objects, or any other factors outside MG Motor's control, as set out further below.
WARRANTY PERIOD
The Warranty period indicates that a vehicle warranty is valid until expiry of the stated period. The Warranty period commences on the date of delivery to its first owner, as recorded in the Service & Warranty Booklet (and irrespective of change of ownership) and ends on:
- the date on which the stated Warranty expires; or
- (as applicable) the date upon which the vehicle travels the stated kilometres,
whichever occurs first.
LIMITED WARRANTIES
The following items have limited warranty periods that are less than the main warranty identified above.
12-Volt Battery 24 months / unlimited kilometres (whichever occurs first) | Covering manufacturing defects for the original vehicle 12-volt battery installed at the factory. |
Roof decals and accessory decal kits 24 months / unlimited kilometres (whichever occurs first) | Covering manufacturing defects for the roof decals installed through the approved MG Motor decal supplier network. |

WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS
- Tyres - Tyres are not covered by this Warranty. Tyres are covered by the express warranties of their respective manufacturers or suppliers. Any claim in respect of vehicle tyres should be directed to the nearest manufacturer service agent or supplier. Excessive tyre wear, inconsistent with normal use may be considered under this Warranty only when the wear results from a manufacturing defect.
- Non-genuine parts and accessories - Non-genuine parts and accessories are not covered this Warranty. Non-genuine parts and accessories are covered by the express warranties of their respective manufacturers or suppliers. Any claim in respect of non-genuine parts and accessories should be directed to the nearest manufacturer service agent or supplier. Any fault or decline in vehicle performance and/or reliability resulting from the use of non-genuine parts is not covered by this Warranty.
- The following uses, normal or natural occurrences and aspects of the vehicle and its ownership are not covered by this Warranty:
- parts that are subject to normal wear and tear (which may vary depending on the usage of the vehicle, its kilometres, geographical and climatic environment) that do not result from a manufacturing defect (including, but not limited to, normal wear and tear on tyres, brake pads, bulbs, and wiper blades)
- any fault as a result of use of the vehicle for racing, rallying, speed trailing, hill climbing or similar activities or competitive events
- any fault as a result of using the vehicle for a purpose other than that for which it is designed
- any fault as a result of driver negligence, misuse or abuse (including but not limited to, tampering, disconnection, loading or towing beyond the manufacturer's specifications, or continuing to drive the vehicle after loss of fluids, lubricants, oils, coolants, refrigerants or water)
- any fault as a result of an accident, impact, collision, explosion or fire damage
- any fault as a result of failure to have the vehicle inspected, serviced and repaired strictly in accordance with MG Motor's specifications set out in the Service & Warranty Booklet and/or by a duly certified and qualified vehicle repair workshop
- any fault as a result of installation or use of non-genuine parts, fluids, accessories, equipment, assemblies or components
- any fault as a result of theft, illegal use or malicious damage
- any fault as a result of damage resulting from the use of non-recommended, inappropriate or contaminated fuel, additives, oil, fluids, lubricants, coolants, refrigerants or water
- any fault as a result of failure to maintain and care for the vehicle, including but not limited to, its body, trim and paintwork, in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations (eg, use of unsuitable cleaning agents, incorrect storage methods) as set out in the Service & Warranty Booklet
- any fault as a result of environmental conditions (including but not limited to, acid rain, industrial fall-out, salt, sand, stones, tree sap, bird or animal droppings, windstorm, hail, flood, lightning, or other events outside of MG Motor's reasonable control)
- any vehicle that has been written off by an insurer
- any vehicle that has been subject to, or fault in a vehicle as a result of, experimental adjustments, alterations, modifications or repairs that alter the original specifications of the vehicle and/or that have not been approved by MG Motor (including but not limited to modifications to body, chassis, electric or other systems)
- any vehicle that has the odometer disconnected or changed – ie, where mileage has been altered and/or the actual mileage cannot be readily determined (if the odometer is replaced, it is important to enter the odometer reading of the removed odometer in vehicle documentation)
- operational characteristics which are considered to be representative of the characteristics of the vehicle, including but not limited to:
- noise, rattles or vibrations of low amplitude or frequency
- slight oozing of oil or the like about packing and/or oil seals
- gap between panels which are within limits
- external appearance defects such as paint, chrome and trim, which are not visual unless magnified by special means - normal maintenance including adjustments (front brake, axle, wheel or headlight alignment etc.), periodic servicing, cleaning or replacement of oil, air, fuel and passenger compartment filters, maintenance of nuts, bolts, clips, connection
- incidental expenses as a result of defects in manufacture, including but not limited to, telephone expenses, vehicle rental charges, towing charges, loss of use of vehicle, loss or damage to personal property
- repairs or work required, that form part of the New Vehicle Preparation (PDI), or as a result of poor preparation of the vehicle prior to delivery to the customer
- the re-occurrence of a fault due to the quality of work performed or a diagnosis error by a dealer, otherwise known as rework
WARRANTY VALIDITY
To ensure the validity of this Warranty, the owner must:
- Ensure that all services are carried out as per the MG Motor maintenance schedule set out in the Service & Warranty Booklet. Failure to perform maintenance promptly and in accordance with MG Motor's specified service intervals will invalidate Warranty coverage.
- Ensure all required service and maintenance is performed using materials that meet MG Motor engineering specifications. The service provider must comply with the requirements of the vehicle Service & Warranty Booklet and use parts that meet the original equipment specifications. Failure to service a vehicle in accordance with the Service & Warranty Booklet requirements including the use of non-authorised parts, will invalidate Warranty coverage. Whilst the Warranty will not be invalidated if a non-authorised MG Motor repairer carries out this work, faults resulting from work carried out by a non-authorised repairer that do not comply with the requirements of the Service & Warranty Booklet will not be covered under this Warranty.
- Ensure that all completed maintenance and repair work performed on the vehicle is recorded in the maintenance and repair log in the Service & Warranty Booklet and is presented to the MG Motor Dealer when making a Warranty claim.
Owner’s Responsibilities Service and Maintenance:
Under this Warranty, the owner of the vehicle is responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of the MG vehicle in accordance with the instructions provided in the relevant Owner’s Manual and Service & Warranty Booklet.
To be eligible for repairs under this Warranty, the owner must retain maintenance inspection records that demonstrate the required maintenance inspections have been performed. A service and maintenance log is included in the Service & Warranty Booklet. The “Scheduled Maintenance Record” must be completed whenever scheduled maintenance is performed.
It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that all services are carried out as required in the Owner’s Manual and that detailed service and maintenance records are completed at the time of service and are kept by the owner to be provided to MG Motor Australia when requested.
These records must include:
- Date of service and odometer reading at the time of service.
- Description of Service/Maintenance: A thorough account of the work carried out.
- Inspections: A list of all inspections performed during the service.
- Adjustments, Corrections, and Replacements: Detailed descriptions of any adjustments, corrections, and parts replaced.
- MG Genuine Replacement Parts: Information on MG genuine replacement parts used, including part numbers.
- Oil and Fluids: The brand, grade, and quantity of any oil or fluids used.
- Workshop Job Card: A copy of the workshop job card for the service performed.
- Compliance with Owner’s Manual: Sufficient details to demonstrate that the service/maintenance performed adheres to the requirements specified in the Owner’s Manual.
As noted above, damage or failures resulting from improper maintenance are not covered under this Warranty. In some instances, the owner may be required to provide proof of servicing and vehicle maintenance to determine the availability of warranty coverage for certain repairs.
HOW TO MAKE A CLAIM UNDER THIS WARRANTY
To make a claim under this Warranty, you must:
- Notify MG Motor within 7 calendar days or as soon as practicable after the defect or malfunction appears (including to minimise the effect a defect has on the vehicle and the nature of the repair needed). Contact 1800 64 2277 (1800 MG CARS).
- Deliver the vehicle to an authorised MG Motor Dealer or Distributor. A list of all MG Motor Dealers and Distributors can be found at Locate a dealer.
- Refer to this Warranty when delivering your vehicle to the authorised Dealer or Distributor and provide the vehicle maintenance and repair log in the Service & Warranty Booklet.
In the event that your vehicle requires emergency repair work and you are unable to deliver your vehicle to an authorised Dealer or repairer retailer please contact MG Road Side Assistance on 1800 64 2277 (1800 MG CARS).
Once a claim has been submitted, MG Motor will endeavour to assess your claim as soon as reasonably practicable.
You will bear the expense of submitting a Warranty claim.
MG Motor will bear the expense of labour, freight and administrative costs if MG Motor assesses that a valid claim has been made under this Warranty.
You will bear the expense of service charges should you authorise any exploratory dismantling and an authorised MG Motor repairer subsequently establishes that a fault is not the result of a manufacturing defect and outside the scope of this Warranty.

REMEDIES
If MG Motor determines that a vehicle or component has a manufacturing defect or malfunction within the terms of this Warranty, MG Motor will, at its own election, either replace the vehicle or component with the same or comparable vehicle or component, or repair it, or, if it relates to the MG Charge Hub, replace or repair the MG Charge Hub. The replacement of a vehicle or component under this Warranty does not alter or renew the length of the Warranty in relation to that replacement vehicle or component. Instead, the existing Warranty will apply to any such replacement vehicle or component.
OTHER TERMS AND CONDITIONS
- Limitation of liability. MG Motor shall not be liable for any consequential loss, indirect loss, economic loss, loss of revenue or special losses which are not reasonably foreseeable, that may arise from any defect of a vehicle.
- Force Majeure. MG Motor is not liable for any breach of Warranty caused by or resulting from prohibition or restriction by law or regulation of any government, fire, flood, storms, war, strike, lockout, or other labour troubles, accident, riot, Acts of God, or others beyond the parties' control.
- Variation of Warranty terms. MG Motor reserves the right to make changes in content, description or terms of this Warranty if deemed to be necessary by legislation or business objectives and will give notice of any changes. The Warranty terms as available on this website at the date a vehicle was delivered to its first owner, as recorded in the Service & Warranty Booklet, apply to the vehicle.

WARRANTY STATEMENT
Warranty Cover
Guarantees repair replacement or adjustment, free of charge, by an authorised repairer, of any part which fails during the warranty period, as a result of a manufacturing or material defect.
Guarantees paintwork repairs to defects such as blistering, peeling, cracking, discoloration or staining of the visible painted surface of the vehicle body panels occurring as a result of manufacturing or material defect.
Guarantees all 'wear and tear' items, excluding tyres and batteries that are subject to failure as a result of a manufacturing or material defect during the first 12 months of the Warranty period or prior to the first scheduled chargeable main service, whichever is sooner.
Guarantees any parts replaced under the terms of the warranty for the balance of the warranty period.
The Australian Consumer Law
The SAIC contractual warranty provided in Australia by SAIC Motors Australia PTY LTD is in addition to the rights and remedies that consumers may have under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (and in particular the Australian Consumer Law (ACL)) and other applicable Commonwealth, State and Territory legislation. In particular, a consumer may have rights under the ACL to a repair, refund or replacement, even in circumstances where for whatever reason the SAIC Motor contractual warranty is invalid or is otherwise not available.
The contractual warranty does not affect any statutory rights or remedies, except to the extent that their application may be lawfully excluded.

The warranty terms provided on commercial use vehicles is covered for a period of 7 years or 160,000kms whichever comes first.
The Warranty Commences on the day the vehicle is first registered or the date of sale to its first owner whichever is the sooner and is irrespective of change of ownership.
The 7 Year or 160,000 Kilometre Warranty (whichever occurs first) applies to vehicles used at any time during the warranty period for Commercial Use, this would include but is not limited to vehicles used for Rental purpose, Taxi, Courier vehicle, Driving School vehicle, Hire Car or Bus and Tour vehicle.
Warranty Start Date
In all cases, the contractual warranty commences upon the registration of the vehicle. This then becomes the contractual warranty start date as entered by the dealer to MG Motor System.
Warranty End Date
The warranty will expire at midnight the date before the warranty start date, seven (7) years after the warranty start date. For example, Warranty Start Date 01/07/2014 identifies a Warranty End Date 01/07/2021.
Anti Perforation Warranty
ICE (INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE) VEHICLES
MG Warranty provides a seven (7) year anti-perforation unlimited kilometre warranty defined as rust through corrosion of the painted metal body panels from the inside or underside of the panels occurring as a result of faulty workmanship or materials used during the original manufacturing process of the vehicle. Details of the inspections must be recorded in the service handbook duly completed at the time of the periodic inspection visits is required for any claims under the Anti-Perforation Warranty.
EV & HYBRID VEHICLES
MG Warranty provides a seven (7) year anti-perforation unlimited kilometre warranty defined as rust through corrosion of the painted metal body panels from the inside or underside of the panels occurring as a result of faulty workmanship or materials used during the original manufacturing process of the vehicle. Details of the inspections must be recorded in the service handbook duly completed at the time of the periodic inspection visits is required for any claims under the Anti-Perforation Warranty.
Paint Warranty
ICE (INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE) VEHICLES
SAIC vehicles are guaranteed by the manufacturer against any defect in the original paintwork for a period of seven (7) years from the date of delivery or registration, as entered on the Warranty Certificate supplied with the vehicle.
EV & HYBRID VEHICLES
SAIC vehicles are guaranteed by the manufacturer against any defect in the original paintwork for a period of seven (7) years from the date of delivery or registration, as entered on the Warranty Certificate supplied with the vehicle.
Battery Warranty
The original vehicle 12-volt battery installed at the factory will be covered for a period of two (2) years / unlimited KMs.
Tyre Warranty
The New Vehicle Warranty does not include tyres, these are covered by the warranties provided by the tyre manufacturers or suppliers and any claim for tyres should be directed to the nearest tyre supplier or manufacturer service agent.
Decal Warranty
The roof decals installed through the approved MG Motor decal supplier network will be covered for a period of two (2) years.

You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.
The rights described in this Warranty are in addition to the rights you have as a consumer under the Australian Consumer Law. This Warranty does not purport to limit liability or alter your rights as a consumer that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including the Australian Consumer Law.
1. What is covered by this Warranty
Unless otherwise specified in writing by MG Motor and subject to the terms of this Warranty policy, MG Motor warrants that any MG Aurora 7kW or MG Aurora 11kW Charge Hub (MG Charge Hub) supplied by MG Motor will be free from manufacturing defects or malfunctions during normal use for the following periods (each a Warranty Period):
- in respect of the RFID card supplied with each MG Charge Hub, 1 year from the date of original delivery; and
- in respect of all other aspects of the MG Charge Hub:if supplied to MG Motor dealerships for the purpose of installation at the dealer's facility location, 3 years from the date of original delivery;if supplied to hotels, resorts and other business venues that are not MG Motor dealerships, for the purpose of installation at the business' location, 1 year from the date of original delivery; andif supplied to individuals for the purpose of installation at a residential address, 3 years from the date of original delivery.
I. if supplied to MG Motor dealerships for the purpose of installation at the dealer's facility location, 3 years from the date of original delivery;
II. if supplied to hotels, resorts and other business venues that are not MG Motor dealerships, for the purpose of installation at the business' location, 1 year from the date of original delivery; and
III. if supplied to individuals for the purpose of installation at a residential address, 3 years from the date of original delivery.
To be entitled to claim under this Warranty, the defect or malfunction in the MG Charger Hub must appear within the applicable Warranty Period.
2. Exclusions (subject to the Australian Consumer Law)
To the maximum extent permitted by law and subject to the Australian Consumer Law, MG Motor is not liable under this Warranty for or in respect of:
- any accessories or other items separate to the MG Charge Hub (for example, connecting cables that are separately supplied);
- normal wear and tear;
- minor issues in the MG Charge Hub which do not substantially interfere with the ordinary use of the MG Charge Hub (for example, changes in cosmetic appearance that do not affect performance);
- unpaid or partly paid supplies;
- if MG Motor has supplied the MG Charge Hub as an "EV Aid", MG Charge Hubs that are not installed within 3 months from the date of original delivery;
- defects notified to MG Motor later than 7 calendar days from the discovery of such defect;
- any defect that is unrelated to the condition of the MG Charge Hub at the time it was supplied to you, including damage or faults caused by:
I. improper transportation, storage or installation of the MG Charge Hub after the date of original delivery;
II. modification, alteration, disassembly or attempted repair of the MG Charge Hub by any person other than MG Motor or its authorised representative;
III. operation or maintenance that is not in accordance with the MG Charge Hub instructions manual, including where the MG Charge Hub is not used with the specified power supply requirements;
Iv. improper climate and environmental conditions where the MG Charge Hub is placed, installed or used, including where the MG Charge Hub is exposed to direct sunlight, rain or snow; or
v. fire, water damage, power surges, accidental breakage or other events outside of MG Motor's reasonable control, including any lost, stolen or damaged MG Charge Hubs or parts of MG Charge Hubs (for example, the RFID card); and - with respect to individuals who purchase the MG Charge Hub for installation at a residential address, use of the MG Charge Hub for a commercial purpose.
This Warranty is not transferable. It is limited to the original customer specified in the original tax invoice or supply agreement.
A Warranty for any MG Charge Hub (including parts) that is repaired or replaced during an applicable Warranty Period, will expire at the same time as the Warranty for the product as originally supplied.
An exclusion described above may be discovered by you, by an electrician or by a person authorised by MG Motor. If the Warranty exclusion is confirmed by MG Motor, you may be charged associated labour and administration costs. If a Warranty exclusion is discovered during a repair by a person authorised by MG Motor, the repair will be stopped, you will be notified and a repair estimate may be provided.
3. How to make a claim under this Warranty
To make a claim under this Warranty, you must:
- cease using the MG Charge Hub immediately after the defect or malfunction appears;
- notify MG Motor within 7 calendar days after the defect or malfunction appears; and
- provide MG Motor with a copy of the original tax invoice or supply agreement, and photos or videos evidencing the defect or malfunction.

Once a claim has been submitted, MG Motor will endeavour to assess your claim and respond within 10 business days.
You will bear the expense of making the claim. MG Motor will bear the expense of labour, freight and administrative costs if MG Motor assesses that a valid claim has been made under this Warranty policy.
4. Remedies
If the MG Charge Hub is determined by MG Motor to have a manufacturing defect or malfunction within the terms of this Warranty policy, MG Motor will, at its own election, either replace the MG Charge Hub or component with the same or comparable model, or repair it.
Any available remedy under this Warranty relates to the MG Charge Hub only, and not any accessory or other item separate to the MG Charge Hub (for example, connecting cables that are separately supplied).
To the extent that the MG Charge Hub or component is capable of retaining user-generated data, you should be aware that repairs may result in the loss of that data.

WARRANTY EXCLUSIONS
Summary of Conditions
There are some uses, natural occurrences and aspects of ownership that are excluded and not covered by the warranty. These are described below:
- Replacement of parts that are subject to normal wear and tear (which may vary depending on the usage of the vehicle, its kilometres, geographical and climatic environment) whose replacement does not result from a defect
- Any fault caused by use of the vehicle for racing, rallying, speed trailing, hill climbing or similar activities or competitive events
- Any fault as a result of using the vehicle for a purpose other than for which it was designed, e.g., all terrain use
- Driver negligence, misuse or abuse, e.g., tampering, disconnection, loading or towing beyond the manufacturer's specifications, or continuing to drive the vehicle after loss of fluids, lubricants, oils, coolants, refrigerants or water
- Accident, impact or fire
- Modifications, alterations or repairs that have not been approved by MG Motor New Zealand
- Failure to have the vehicle inspected, serviced and repaired strictly in accordance with the manufacturer's specifications and recommendations
- Installation or use of non-genuine parts, fluids, accessories, equipment, assemblies or components
- Failure to have the vehicle repaired promptly and in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations following an accident or other damage, or after a defect becomes known or suspected
- Any vehicle that has been written off by an insurer, or any repair, replacement or alteration not Authorised by MG, experimental adjustments or vehicles modified in any way from MG's specification
- Theft, illegal use or malicious damage by a third person
- Damage resulting from the use of non-recommended, inappropriate or dirty fuel, additives, oil, fluids, lubricants, coolants, refrigerants or water
- Any repairs carried out on the vehicle by a person or persons other than an Authorised MG Cars dealer or repairer without SAIC Motor New Zealand PTY LTD's prior approval
- Failure to maintain and care for the vehicle, including but not limited to, its body, trim and paintwork, in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations, e.g., use of unsuitable cleaning agents
- Environmental conditions, including but not limited to, acid rain, industrial fall-out, salt, sand, stones, tree sap, bird or animal droppings, windstorm, hail, flood, lightening, or other acts of God
- Repairs or work required, that forms part of the New Vehicle Preparation (PDI), or as a result of poor preparation of the vehicle prior to delivery to the customer
- The reoccurrence of a fault due to the quality of work performed or a diagnosis error by a dealer, otherwise known as rework
- Normal maintenance including adjustments (front axle, wheel alignment etc.) periodic servicing, cleaning or replacement of oil, air, fuel and passenger compartment filters
- Any Exploratory dismantling charges will only be reimbursed as part of a claim. It is the responsibility of the warranty holder to Authorise and to pay the charges if it is proved that the failure is not the responsibility of MG
- Vehicles that have exceeded the maximum permitted mileage covered by the Warranty.
1.1 DETAILED INFORMATION OF CONDITIONS NOT COVERED UNDER THE NEW VEHICLE CONTRACTUAL WARRANTY
The below information provided gives detailed specifics on what is not covered under the new vehicle contractual warranty
1.2 MAINTENANCE SERVICE
Normal maintenance service such as, but not limited to, the following is not covered by warranty. Any failures resulting from a lack of maintenance are not covered by warranty:
- Fuel system cleaning
- Wheel balancing
- Engine tune-up
- Brake inspection and adjustment
- Clutch system adjustment
- Replacement of consumable parts such as air cleaner element, spark plug, injection nozzle, fuse, drive belt, bulb, brushes of alternator and starter, brake pad (FRT, RR) and linings, rubber part (except engine mounting rubber), clutch disc, oil and any other filter elements when such replacements are made as part of any normal maintenance services.
1.3 ITEMS AFFECTED BY WEAR, EXPOSURE, ETC.
The repair or replacement of the following items resulting from normal use, neglect, accident, wear and exposure is not covered by warranty:
- Soft trim and interior trim
- Plated parts, bumpers and other appearance items
- Wiper blades
- Brake linings or brake pads, brake drums or discs.
- Clutch disc
- Rubber materials such as hoses, belts.
1.4 ENVIRONMENTAL DAMAGE
Damage to a vehicle caused by industrial, chemical or other environmental fallout, salt, sap, pollen, sand, hair, windstorm, lightening, or other environmental conditions are not covered by warranty.
1.5 DAMAGE DUE TO IMPROPER USE
Any damages or failures resulting from improper use such as the following are not covered by warranty.
- Handling and operation of the vehicle contrary to the instructions in the Owner's Manual
- Lack of performance of proper maintenance service
- Use of the vehicle in races, rallies and other competitive events
- Use of improper or dirty fuel, oils or fluids.
- Over loading
- Off-road use
- Operation of vehicle often it is known to be defective
1.6 EQUIPMENT NOT DESIGNED OR RECOMMENDED FOR VEHICLE, ALTERATIONS AND ADDITIONS
Repairs made necessary due to use of equipment not designed or recommended for the vehicle by SAIC and/or alterations and additions to the standard vehicle are not covered by warranty.
1.7 TYRES
MG Motor New Zealand passes on to the owner the original tyre manufacturer's warranty. The manufacturer's agent handles these warranties, and franchise holders must resolve with the agent on behalf of the owner.
1.8 TYRE WEAR
Excessive tyre wear, inconsistent with normal use may be considered under the contractual warranty only when the wear is the result of a component exhibiting a contractual warranty defect Prior. If tyre wear is attributed to incorrect alignment settings this will not covered as this is set at the time of Pre Delivery.
1.9 STEERING WHEEL ALIGNMENT
Checking of the Alignment of a steering wheel is performed during pre-delivery and is therefore not claimable under this warranty.
1.10 WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND WHEEL BALANCE
Wheel Balance and Alignment is claimable only up to 6 month/10,000 kilometres as a result of a manufacturing or material defect only.
1.11 RATTLES AND ADJUSTMENTS
Rattles in the vehicle are not claimable via the warranty system unless they are connected with a manufacturing defect or fault.
1.12 BODY / PANEL ALIGNMENT
The alignment or adjustment of eternal body panels such as bumper, boot, bonnet or doors would not be considered as a warrantable defect.
1.13 BREAKDOWN SERVICE
In the instance of a breakdown the customer may call Roadside Assistance; in metro areas, the vehicle will be towed to the selling dealer unless otherwise directed by the customer. In all other areas the vehicle will be towed to the nearest SAIC Motor New Zealand Pty LTD Dealer (100kms) for repairs to be carried out. Towing fees from an outside towing company cannot be claimed through warranty and the cost will be borne by the customer.
1.14 BRAKE ADJUSTMENT
The adjustment of the handbrake would be classified as a service item therefore is included as a part of routine scheduled servicing and is not claimable.
1.15 FLUID LEVELS
These are maintenance items and are not claimable.
1.16 ACCIDENTAL DAMAGE
MG Motor New Zealand will not accept responsibility for accidental damage under any circumstances. Such damage is normally referred to insurance.
1.17 CONTAMINATED FUEL SYSTEMS
Any defect or damage caused by contaminated fuel is not claimable. Filters must be replaced in accordance with service schedule details, or earlier if it is known that fuel contamination has occurred.
1.18 GLASS
Glass is covered by the MG Warranty only if a result of a manufacturing or material defect.
1.19 HEADLIGHT ALIGNMENT
Not claimable unless associated with a manufacturing defect.
1.20 MAINTENANCE OF NUTS, BOLTS, CLIPS, CONNECTIONS
Not claimable unless associated with a manufacturing defect.
1.21 UNAUTHORISED/NON-GENUINE PARTS
It is strongly recommended for Dealerships to use Genuine SAIC Parts for all maintenance and repair works because they are manufactured to the same engineering standards and quality control as the original equipment. Any warranty repairs or replacements should be carried out using genuine parts. Warranty services carried out using non-genuine parts are, in principle, not covered since the use of them may adversely affect vehicle performance and reliability. Any damages or declines in vehicle performance and/or reliability resulting from the use of non-genuine parts are not covered by warranty.
1.22 ODOMETER ALTERATION
No coverage is provided to any vehicles on which the odometer mileage has been altered and the actual mileage cannot be readily determined. When replacing the odometer, it is important to enter the odometer reading of removed odometer in both the vehicle history file and the Warranty and Service Information booklet (Service Guide).
1.23 CONSEQUENTIAL EXPENSE
Incidental expenses resulting from defects in material or workmanship of any parts of vehicle are not covered by warranty. Such expenses include the following:
- Telephone or telegraph expenses
- Vehicle rental charge
- Towing charge
- Travel, accommodation or meals expenses
- Loss or damage to personal property
- Lost time, business and commercial loss
- Compensation for inconvenience to customers
- Loss of use of the vehicle
1.24 FORCE MAJEURE EXCLUSIONS
SAIC Motor New Zealand Pty LTD is not liable for any breach of warranty caused by or resulting from prohibition or restriction by law or regulation of any government, fire, flood, storms, war, strike, lockout, or other labour troubles, accident, riot, Acts of God, or others beyond the parties' control.
1.25 OPERATIONAL CHARACTERISTICS
Operational Characteristics are generally not accepted as warranty claim caused by defect in material and workmanship, and/or same as the difficulties, which happens in very limited operation only.
- Very small and low sound or vibration, which is not recognized as affecting quality or function of the vehicle.
- Very slight oozing of oil or the like about packing and/or oil seals, which causes no decrease in the quality of the oil or the like.
- Gap between panels which are within the limits
- External appearance defect such as paint, chrome and trim, which are not visual unless magnified by special means.
1.26 CONCERN CAUSED BY A NON-AUTHORISED MG DEALER
Any concern caused by an external repairer will not be covered by MG Motor New Zealand under any circumstance.
OWNER'S RESPONSIBILITIES
The owners handbook describes the proper care and use of the vehicle.
Vehicle warranty
The owner should:
- Make sure all required maintenance is performed and all materials used meet MG Australia engineering specification.
- Note: Failure to perform maintenance promptly and in accordance with MG specified service intervals will invalidate warranty coverage on the parts effected.
- Make sure the vehicle is presented to a dealer for any warranty repair as soon as practicable after defect is detected. This will minimize the effect a defect has on the vehicle and the nature of the repair needed.
- Make sure that receipts for completed maintenance work are retained with the vehicle and confirmation of maintenance. Work is always recorded in the vehicle documentation.
